Welcome back to our Restaurant Spotlight series! Last time, I shared the story of MP Taverna, and I’m back to highlight another restaurant in Westchester. Sweetgrass Grill is an American restaurant in Tarrytown, NY that I recently ate at. They did a fantastic job at being aware of my allergies.

Allergen Labeling

As soon as I sat down, I noticed that their menu labeled dishes that contained common allergens like gluten, nuts, and sesame. Given that one of my allergens is tree nuts, this was immensely helpful to see and assured me that they would know which dishes were safe. Most restaurants don’t do any menu labeling at all, so kudos to Sweetgrass Grill for adding that!

Understanding Potential Cross-Contact Scenarios

My server was also aware of the potential for cross-contact between dishes. When another person at my table ordered the Roasted Beets Salad, the waiter immediately alerted me to the presence of nuts there (specifically pistachios). That warning helped me to know that I couldn’t share and made me feel confident that I was in safe hands.

My meal was Sweetgrass Grill’s House Cheese Burger—highly recommended! Check it out below:

Closing Invitation

If you know of another Westchester restaurant that deserves to be recognized for its allergy-safe practices, let me know! I’d love to feature more places that are setting the standard for safe and welcoming dining.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time!
