Making Delivery Safer for Families With Food Allergies · The Hudson Independent · May 15, 2026
In this op-ed, I write about my experience with an allergic reaction after ordering out from a restaurant. I discuss how food allergies have been on the rise. At the same time, more families are using delivery platforms to order. This makes it even more important to have strong allergy safety practices at restaurants. The good news is that existing delivery platforms like DoorDash and Uber Eats have features to allow diners to learn about and communicate their allergies to restaurants. Unfortunately, many restaurants have not enabled these tools. My goal is to urge as many restaurants as possible to turn on these features.
