Restaurant Spotlight: Mint

Welcome back to our Restaurant Spotlight series!

I recently had a great dinner at Mint Premium Foods in Tarrytown, New York, and wanted to highlight the positive, allergy-safe practices I experienced.

Mint is a Mediterranean restaurant that sits right on Main Street. They have been recognized by the Michelin Guide and you can make a reservation on OpenTable.

The restaurant also has a retail section where you can purchase premium olive oil, vinegar, and gourmet cheese to take home.

Mint’s menu tells customers that they should alert their server if they have a severe food allergy. When I first sat down at the restaurant, a server brought a complimentary charcuterie plate to our table. I told him about my allergies to tree nuts and

certain shellfish like crab and lobster. He immediately told me the charcuterie appetizer was free of my allergens.

Later, when I was ordering, I informed our main server, Brian, about my allergies. He noted them down and made sure that I felt comfortable. He even carefully checked by asking if there were other shellfish I was allergic to.

Overall, Mint’s servers were clearly aware of the allergens they handled in the kitchen, and they did an excellent job accommodating mine.

Mint is known for its burgers, and my Mint Burger didn't disappoint! I would also highly recommend trying the goat cheese there.
